Dave Gray and Jim Boyle
dave and jim 1.jpgDave Gray and Jim Boyle are an exciting new duo based in Newcastle. Having both been involved in dance music for many years - Dave in French dance and Jim in Morris, the two smooth, intricate styles blend beautifully together to create some wonderful contemporary repertoire inspired mostly by these two great traditions. Dave, originally from Digby in Lincolnshire and Jim, from North Devon, have both been studying on the Folk and Traditional music degree in Newcastle, which Jim has just completed.

Katie Doherty and Children
Katie-by-the-Castle1.jpgWorld premiere of a brand new song on the theme of 'Pride of Place' written by local school children with Katie Doherty, especially for Streets of Folk.

Christi Andropolis
Christi Andropolis 1.JPGHailing from New York State, and now based in the North East, Christi Andropolis is a singer and fiddler whose musical inspirations range from the Southern States of the US to the UK, exploring connections between traditional music on both sides of the Atlantic. From delta blues to Appalachian tunes, she combines the influence of her American roots with a flair for Scottish and English fiddle, establishing a new voice for transatlantic folk music. Having already toured extensively in her native U.S., Christi is fast becoming acclaimed on the UK folk scene with expressive vocals, dynamic fiddling and on-stage charisma.

Adrienne Young Ramsey
adrienne young.jpgAdrienne Young lives in Nashville, but everything about her suggests some other time and place: the teapot in which she brews her organic tea, the sunlight that spills through her windows over stacks of books and rustic jumbles of tapestries and instruments, her quiet passion and intelligence, and above all the sound of her music. Her music is Grammy nominated (most unusual for a debut indie release) and she has been added to numerous "best of" lists, including a "Best Country Single of the Year" citation from the Nashville Scene, third place in the Amazon.com list of "best folk recordings of the year," and benediction from the Los Angeles Times as "the Americana find of the year" This is the final performance of only two performances in the UK this year.

The Peatbog Faeries
Peatbogs9.jpgBased on the Isle of Skye, the Peatbog Faeries have been described as the future of Celtic dance music'. They incorporate many influences which take them from traditional jigs and reels through jazz, hip hop, reggae and more. This is high octane Celtic dance music so be prepared to dance!
In 2008 they won the award for 'Best Live Act' at the prestigious Scots Trad Music Awards. Previous highlights for the band have playing the main stage at midnight at Glasgow's massive Millennium celebrations, televised appearance at Celtic Connections and festival dates at all the main festivals around the world. They are Peter Morrison (pipes and whistles), Adam Sutherland (fiddles), Tom Salter (guitar), Innes Hutton (bass, percussion) Graeme Stafford (keyboards) and Iain Copeland (drums) and currently featuring the North Easts very own Peter Tickell on fiddle.
