MORE DETAIL

The Black Eagles

The Black Eagles are originally from Tanzania, East Africa, where they learnt their acrobatic skills on the streets of Dar-es-Salaam. The Black Eagles present shows for any environment combining stunning acrobatic skills, energetic dance and an uplifting African Musical sound track, in performances that are both enjoyable and breathtaking.

"These unbelievable artists had the audience totally spellbound and speechless and undoubtedly contributed to the major success the event certainly was... "
Vouli Kerr, University of Sheffield, Events Organiser

Joe May

Joseph D'Amour Bouffon (Joseph, the fool of love) wanders the world weeping, singing for his lost love. He starts a show in her memory. A crowd forms. A beautiful woman is smiling at him! A new love? Excitement builds as D'Amour pulls every trick he can, trying to impress. Audiences the world over have enjoyed his foolish attempts to win a single kiss. Will he get the girl? Will he be worthy of a kiss? A classic tale of man's struggle to impress. With a stupendous French accent.
"The best street show I have ever seen." Steven Berkoff. Actor, director & playwright. UK.
Half French, Half Australian, Half British, wholly impressive.

Betty Brawn
A favourite at Glastonbury and The Edinburgh fringe, she has the grace of her mother and the strength of her father and puts on a show that few in the world will believe until they've seen; "Truly Spectacular and very special people are going to be talking about this non-stop" BBC- Glastonbury coverage

Nani Rossi

nani rossi 1.JPG
Nani Rossi are an eclectic and delightful clown duo, highly skilled in hand to hand acrobatics, juggling and comedy. In true street theatre style, the show breaks down all barriers between performers and audience, between magic and reality. The Nani Rossi show is a beautiful presentation of contemporary European Street Circus and brings Italian Street Theatre to Streets of Play for the first time. From exceptional skills and quirky characters, you'll be amazed and amused!

Laby

Following on from Witty Look - the Streets of Play, People's Choice Award Recipients of 2009, we're excited to present Juggler Laby
Hailing from the outskirts of Tokyo, Juggler Laby (pronounced Raby) is one of japan's finest jugglers.
Incorporating all kinds of juggling and object manipulation into his show, Juggler Laby brings Daidogei (Japanese Street Theatre) back to Streets of Play. His finale is upon a freestanding ladder 1.5m higher than his own height.

Crate Balance
Be a part of the extreme sport craze sweeping the nation! Test your nerve and your balancing skills on the Milk Crate balance situated in Walkergate throughout the day. The aim is to balance on the highest number of crates humanly possible!

Urban Playground

parkour Quartet 3 (c) Matt Case.jpeg
Parkour or free running is a non-competitive, physical discipline of French origin in which participants run along a route, usually in an urban setting, attempting to negotiate obstacles in the most efficient way possible. Widely known nowadays from the BBC television advert "Rush Hour" and various other memorable adverts since.
At the end of the day, head down to Walkergate for the headline act; Parkour experts Urban Playground present the ultimate Parkour show; Quartet is a physical conversation between four unique performers who playfully share the space between themselves and the audience, examining the dynamic potential available in a series of four sided structures. The performance combines Parkour with various dance forms including street dance, contact improvisation, foot-percussion, breaking, capoeira, and contemporary.

Parkour Workshops
As well as their performance at the end of the day, The Urban Playground team will be running two workshops throughout the day in order for enthusiasts of all ages and abilities to come together and develop their own unique style of movement culminating in a performance alongside the professionals.

Workshop places are allocated on a first come, first served basis. For an application form please email workshops@ahevents.co.uk
